Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography is one of the many vital tools in our veterinarians’ tool belts to aid in your pet’s diagnosis. Just as bloodwork and urinalysis provide integral information about possible viral and bacterial infections or the performance of internal organs, ultrasounds allow our doctor to gain immediate knowledge on your pets internal structures. Our clinic offers a comprehensive array of non-invasive ultrasounds that can inform us of a large variety of conditions or diseases: We offer urogenital, abdominal, and thoracic ultrasounds to determine the presence of urinary stones or gallstones, fluid build-up in the abdomen or chest, tumors on internal organs, gastrointestinal obstructions, and reproductive diseases. Many ultrasounds done by our office are also sent to a board certified radiologist for interpretation as a specialized second opinion informing our doctors on how to move forward.
We’re also proud to offer Echocardiograms, or cardiac ultrasounds, to provide crucial information about the state of your pet’s heart. This procedure in conjunction with ECGs and bloodwork help paint a comprehensive picture of your pet’s heart health, which allows our doctors to diagnose various cardiac conditions and disease. All echocardiograms taken at our clinic are sent to a board certified cardiologist which ensures a specialist’s opinion has been taken into consideration regarding next steps with your pet.
Ultrasounds are a non-invasive procedure that in most scenarios can be performed with gentle restraint, however our team is also equipped to provide sedation based on the pet and their individual safety and needs.
